Philips Norelco 4100 Electric Shaver Review
Affordable quality electric shavers are quite hard to come by. If you find one you should grab it.
This is why I've decided to review the Philips Norelco 4100.
The Philips Norelco 4100 is a dry/wet shaver that follows Philip’s previous installment, the Norelco 3500.
The 4100 addresses two of the biggest concerns that Philips’ customers had:
While both shavers are nearly identical, Philips is promising that the Norelco 4100 is the shaver to use, whether you shave wet, dry, every day, or once a week.
I’m going to discuss all features of the Philips Norelco 4100 throughout this review.
A Quick Glance at the Norelco 4100
SUMMARY
A quality rotary electric shaver at a very affordable price. Can be used for wet/dry shave and will give great close shaves.

SPECS
Overview of the Shaver
This electric shaver is ideal for the man that wants a close, clean, and professional level shave without the hassle. This rotary shaver promises to deliver a close, clean, shave and cooperate with your favorite shaving gels, creams, or foams.
Unlike its predecessor, the Philips Norelco 3500, the 4100 is waterproof and can handle a rinse underneath a hot faucet and a quick shower.
Accessories
The Norelco 4100 comes with a few accessories in the box. The accessories are not the highlight of this product and you get just what you need and nothing more. Along with the shaver, you’ll receive:
Features
Some of the Norelco 4100’s can’t miss features are the Super Lift & Cut feature, the DualPrecision Shaving Head, and the Flexing Shaving System.
1. Super Lift & Cut
The Super Lift & Cut Feature is one of the standout features of the shaver, one set of its blades are designed to lift the stubble, and a second blade will deliver a very close shave while the hair is elevated.
2. DualPrecision Shaving Head
The DualPrecision Shaving Head will give you a close a shave as possible, regardless of how long your facial hair is. The rotating heads of the shaver had wide slots designed to cut long hairs and holes so that very short and very fine hair can be trimmed.
3. Flex Shaving System
The Flex Shaving System is designed to keep the shaver well connected with your face, and the round design makes it so that you can get a cleaner shave when you’re shaving areas like your jawline or neck.
4. LED Display
Unlike a lot of shavers on the market, the Norelco 4100 has a LED indicator that will alert the user as to if the battery is low, charging, or fully charged, and you’re promised at least 50 minutes of cordless use from one charge.
Build Quality & Reliability
The Philips Norelco 4100 has a comfortable grip made out of a rubberized material, while the rest of it is made of plastic, which makes it feel a bit less high-end.
The shaver is lightweight and comfortable. The Norelco 4100 doesn't put as much of a focus on a sleek, minimalist, and attractive design like other high-end razors but it more than makes up for it with its functionality.
Customers felt that the 4100 was well put together, and were happy to report that it can last for years with daily use. These shavers are designed to last for three years or more. However, if it doesn't last for a few years, it comes with a full two-year warranty.
Battery
The Norelco 4100 only takes an hour to charge fully, and it promises to last for at least fifty minutes of continued use after each charge. However, if you forgot to charge your shaver, there's a three-minute quick charge option that will provide you with some power so that you can do a quick shave.
The Norelco 4100 can hold a charge even after it's been off the charger for a little while, and if you're a frequent traveler, you can take this shaver wherever you're going.
Unlike a lot of other shavers, there is no charging dock, but there's a cord charger instead, similar to a cell phone. This will also be useful when you're traveling because there's less things to pack.
Shaving Experience
With its rotating heads and unique design, the Norelco 4100 will give a close and clean shave without sacrificing comfort.
You can use this shaver every day without suffering from razor burn. The rotating heads can also give you a closer, and more efficient shave, especially if you have shorter facial hair.
The Norelco 4100 is a wet/dry shaver, so you'll be able to use shaving creams and gels, and the performance of the shaver is not disturbed. Additionally, you can take the Norelco 4100 into the shower along with your favorite shaving gel, cream, or foam.
Cleaning & Maintenance
One of the perks of the Norelco 4100 is that it's relatively low maintenance compared to a lot of other high-end shavers. To clean it, all you have to do is take off the rotating head attachment and run it under water.
The Norelco also comes with a brush that you could use to clean it out after a few uses; you don't have to be very meticulous when it comes to cleaning this shaver.
Who Should Buy the 4100?
If you shave every day as opposed to every two or three days this shaver might be perfect for you. Its unique design will assist it with shaving hair in the most difficult parts of your face.
It’s also a great no-fuss option for men that prefer to have a shaver that they can forget about and leave on the counter, and plug it in and get a quick, clean shave.
However, if you have an abundance of hair on your face or body, you might not care for the rotating blades of the Norelco 4100 as it’s been noted by some customers that if you have very thick and very long hair, then you might have a more difficult time with the Norelco 4100.
Comparing to the 3500
Men that loved the Philips Norelco 3500 will enjoy the 4100 since it improves upon all of the features that the 3500 was in need of. << Click here for more info on 3500 >>
The Philips Norelco 3500 took a hit in customer reviews because the battery of the shaver did not deliver. It took the 3500 about eight hours to charge, and it would last for about one or two weeks depending on how often you used it. The 4100 only takes fifty minutes to charge, and you'll get at least fifty minutes of battery out of it if you're using it continuously.
The Norelco 3500 wasn’t waterproof, and many customers felt that for the price (it retails for around $70 from some vendors) it should have that feature. The 4100 is waterproof and can be used for wet or dry shaving, and it can be purchased for around the same price as the 3500 from some online vendors.
The shavers look identical, but the 4100 can be taken into the shower (the 3500 is not waterproof) and the new charging time cannot be beaten.
