Overview of the Shaver
The 790cc is very lightweight and made of durable plastic and rubber to provide years of service. Braun took the time to design the shaver to ergonomic standards specifically. The lighter weight helps prevent fatigue while shaving and the handle design keeps all of the buttons and features within easy reach of a finger without having to fumble around with both hands.
The cordless shaver is ultra-portable and has its very own travel case so you can toss it in your gym back or briefcase and head out the door. It also comes with a charging station that can fully charge the shaver in one hour as well as clean the head while it does so.
The shaver is waterproof so shaving while in the shower is possible. However, Braun has not cleared the 790cc for wet/dry shaving. If you want the wet/dry certification, you will need to look for another series 7 shaver.
Sometimes you'll see that model numbers have an addition to their number. The -x addition specifies a newer iteration of the same model, with minor changes. For example 790cc-4 is the fourth iteration.
Features of the 790cc
The series 7 shavers are packed full of features and options, and the 790cc is no different.
Build Quality & Reliability
The plastic and rubber machine is very light (less than half a pound) and at first, may feel easily breakable. The plastic is very durable, and the rubber coating on the back allows for a nice firm grip.
The entire shaver is ergonomically designed to reduce hand fatigue while shaving. The metal foil covers have independent suspension and along with the pivoting head offer eight direction movement to adjust to any contour of your face.
The shaver is very reliable regarding use and longevity. Reviews have been left noting they have used their 790cc for over five years without any issues at all.
The warranty is the basic Braun 2-year limited warranty that covers defects and craftsmanship. It does not cover neglect, damage caused from misuse or the replaceable head.
The 790cc User Experience
When it comes down to it, the actual shave it what matters the most. Having an automatic cleaner and rechargeable battery doesn't serve you well if the shave isn’t up to par. However, the 790cc, as well as the rest of the series 7 shavers, are popular for a reason: they do their job.
Battery
The battery will last up to 50 minutes on a full charge. If you have let the battery die and needed to shave, you also have the option of a quick charge. You can charge the battery for 5 minutes that will provide enough power to the shaver for one shave. This is such a great feature and I love it.
Once you charge the battery, you can remove the charging cord to save energy. The 790cc will hold the charge without being used for several days. The charging cord isn’t very long (only about 16 inches), so you will need to place the docking station close to an outlet. However, the station isn’t very large, and you won’t have to fight for counter space.
When you are on the go, you can use the shaver without charging for a few days before the battery will die.
Shaving Experience
If you have gone a few days without shaving, the 790cc will still power through even the coarsest hairs. According to Braun, their shave technology is such that you reduce irritation by not having to go over the same spot twice.
This may be accurate if you shave every day. There is a noticeable decline in shave time and repeated shaving in certain spots. However, if your hair is thicker, or you have gone a while without a shave, you will need to cover most areas at least twice.
You will shave your beard down to 0.005 millimeters which is just as close as a razor blade. The average time to shave is faster than a razor and quicker than most other electric razors on the market. The 790cc also has the ability to lift stubborn hairs and take care of hard to reach areas easily; further reducing your shave time.
The variable speed settings didn’t take away from the shave and made little if any, noticeable difference to the shaver. Lower settings (designed for sensitive skin) did affect the noise of the head, but it was slight.
Because Braun has not certified the 790cc as a wet or dry shaver, using foams and gels will void the warranty. They will also clog the foils and spread the foam around, instead of removing it like a razor.
Cleaning & Maintenance
Cleaning the shaver is very easy: pass the head under running water. When you are finished shaving a quick rinse is really all it needs. You also have the advantage of a cleaning from the charging dock as well. The alcohol-based solution will deep clean the head and dry it before your next use.
Alternatively, you can use the included cleaning brush to wipe off the coils, but it takes a lot longer and does a poor job compared to the cleaning dock and running water.
Comparing 790cc to Other Shavers
The Braun Series 7 shavers consist of the 790cc, the 760cc, and the 799cc.

Who Should Buy the 790cc
Any man looking for a close, comfortable shave without a lot of hassle should seriously consider the Braun 790cc. If you are on a budget, the 790cc offers significant savings over the Braun 9 series and does a great job.
However, if you are the type that likes to shave in the shower, or use foams and gels with your electric razor, the 790cc is not going to be your best option. You can, instead, look at the other series 7 shavers for wet/dry shaving and the use of shaving creams.
