Honest Amish Beard Balm Review

Honest Amish Beard Balm Review

If you're not new in the beard scene, I'm pretty sure you've heard of Honest Amish.

If you haven't, well... it's ABOUT time.

The Honest Amish brand makes handcrafted, all-natural beard grooming products.

Located in western Pennsylvania's Amish Country, they have firsthand experience with the beard culture. All their products, including beard balms, waxes, soaps and lip balms are made with sustainable ingredients and packaged in tin, not plastic.

In this article I'll review their beard balm, hands down it's one of the best out there.

Honest Amish Beard Balm is one of the best beard balms I've ever used, and I've used plenty over the years. It's loaded with essential oils and other ingredients, has a nice consistency and scent. It nourishes my beard to keep it soft and itch free.

Honest Amish Balm Overview

This balm is one of the most popular balms and not by chance!

It is made in western Pennsylvania’s Amish Country.

Here's a rundown of what you can expect when you buy the Honest Amish Beard Balm Conditioner:

What You’ll Find in the Package

The balm comes in a small tin inside a burlap bag. There’s a card with beard care tips in the bag.

The Tin

The tin is 2 oz, but the balm is also available in 4 oz size. It has the beautiful looking Honest Amish logo cover on the lid.

I like it that the lid has a screwing mechanism and not just a twist. This way, you have a great seal which helps keep the balm in a great condition. On top of that if you put it in a bag you can be sure the lid won't fall off.

You can expect the balm to last you for around 2-3 months (of course it depends on your beard and the amount of balm you're applying), but with a semi medium beard, this is what you can expect assuming you're using it daily.

Is the Balm Natural?

Honest Amish Beard Balm is 100% natural and organic. It is not tested on animals.

Ingredients

Honest Amish Beard Balm contains the following ingredients.

Avocado: Has lots of Vitamin E, which improves hair's health and locks in moisture in your skin. It has over a dozen other vitamins and minerals, including magnesium, potassium, and antioxidants.

Grape Seed : Is excellent for moisturizing your skin, but it does make the balm a little greasier.

Pumpkin Seeds: Have fatty acids, that promote beard growth.

Apricot kernel: A popular ingredient in hair care products. You can see it listed in shampoos and other products. Full of Vitamin E, fatty acids and antioxidants, it repairs skin under your beard to prevent dandruff. Apricot kernel promotes hair growth and keeps your beard soft and shiny.

Shea & Cocoa Butter: The Shea butter gives the balm a bit of yellowish color. Both butters will help keep beard hair soft and moisturized. They will help remedy dry skin and will also smooth your skin.

Virgin Argan Oil: Has antioxidants to keep beard hair healthy. It moisturizes hair to prevent dry skin and the flakiness that causes dandruff.

Kokum Oil: Made from the seeds of the Kokum fruit, it’s also known as Garcinia indica. It's grown in India and used for medicinal purposes, its skin-soothing qualities can stop and heal rashes that might appear when growing a beard.

Cedarwood, Clove, Grapefruit, Peppermint, Anise & other essential oils: These oils are great for better hair growth. The mixture of Anise and Cedarwood gives the balm it’s half-woodsy, half-licorice smell.

Using Honest Amish Beard Balm

In this section I'll try to describe my experience with using this balm and determine if this product but really does what it supposed to do.

honest amish beard balm vs heavy duty

Like most balms the mixture is a bit hard and before applying you need to take a dab and warm it by rubbing it between your palms. It only takes a few seconds of rubbing to turn the balm into an oily mixture which you can apply to your beard.

After rubbing the balm you get a nice mixture

It's very to apply the balm to your beard, I love the feeling afterwards, I get a 'freshy' like feeling on my face. The balm doesn't leave an unpleasant greasy feeling on my hands or on the skin under my beard. Usually I don't even wash my hands, but I in case you're planning to use your computer for example, maybe it'll be better to wash your hands.

If it's your first time, it might take some time getting used to the amounts, start with a dab and increase if needed, if you feel like your beard is too oily decrease the amount.

It's very hard to describe a scent, but I'll try. Some guys say it smells like licorice. I think it has a pleasant woodsy and sweet scent, the scent is not overwhelming, but you can smell it after applying, it goes away after a while.

The hold of this balm is pretty weak. If you're looking for a balm with a strong hold that will be good for styling you can try the heavy duty version.

Is It Any Good?

I only have good things to say about the performance of the Honest Amish beard balm.

It'll get rid of dandruff on your beard and will keep your beard healthy. If you suffer from beard itch, you will notice a huge improvement.

Who This Balm Is Best For?

As far as I know Honest Amish products, including this beard balm, works well for most, regardless of beard length or thickness. Since the balm is 100% natural, anyone can use it, even guys with sensitive skin.

I would recommend this balm to anyone who has a problem with an itchy beard. Most guys who try to grow a beard for the first time are bothered by itchiness, but using this balm every day will take care of that.

If you want a balm to help with styling this one is not a good choice. Other than that you won't be disappointed from this balm.
